Two weeks ago the mountable SlideEdge was still on the bench. It's live now. Elite has finished rolling out across the whole range, and there's a new piece of packaging in the works that's quietly the start of something bigger.

Last time I mentioned a new SlideEdge variant that supports a standard mounting pattern, and said it was still on the bench. The fit is locked. It's published. Add to that a finished Elite rollout and a new box taking shape, and there's plenty to cover.

SlideEdge VESA is live

The new SlideEdge VESA takes the same slide-in dock and gives it three places to live instead of one. The front-edge SlideEdge needs a desk lip to clamp under. Plenty of desks don't have one, or the underside is already full. So this version mounts however your space allows:

• To a VESA arm. Four M4 bolts onto any 75 or 100 monitor arm. The MacBook floats beside your display and the desk stays completely clear.
• To the desk side panel. Three wood screws into the vertical panel. The laptop sits on its side, off the surface but right at hand.
• To the wall. Three screws and the included anchors. Any flat wall becomes a tidy charging spot.

It's the same dock for all three, so you can change your mind later: unbolt it from an arm and put it on the wall whenever your setup changes. It ships in two tiers:

• SlideEdge VESA Standard, €69,99. 100 W charging, 40 Gbps USB4, fits MacBook Air 13" and MacBook Pro 14".
• SlideEdge VESA Pro, €94,99. 240 W and 80 Gbps Thunderbolt 5, for the MacBook Pro 14" and 16".

If you're already on a front-edge SlideEdge product page, there's now a small "No desk lip to clamp?" card that points you straight at the VESA twin. The two listings stay linked so you land on the right one.

Elite is now across every system

Last time the Elite editions, the PETG-CF versions of each system, were just starting to appear. That rollout is finished: every system in the range now has an Elite edition. Same carbon-reinforced material throughout, with the matte finish, the extra stiffness, and the heat and UV resistance that made qualifying it worth the trouble.

One honest caveat. "Every system has an Elite" doesn't yet mean "every MacBook has an Elite." Each model needs its own dialed-in profile, and I'm adding MacBook compatibility model by model rather than claiming a fit I haven't tested. If your exact machine isn't listed on an Elite page yet, it's coming; the Standard and Pro tiers already cover it in the meantime.

There's also a new color. Elite has always been black, because it's printed in PETG-CF and carbon fiber is always a dark material. To offer white, I've added a second Elite material: PETG-GF, the same PETG reinforced with glass fiber instead of carbon. For everything DBD asks of it (the stiffness, the heat and UV resistance, the matte finish) GF performs the same as CF; the difference is that glass fiber can be light-colored, so a clean white Elite is finally possible. Both materials are printed on order, same as the rest of the range.

One material qualification opened the whole Elite line. Finishing the rollout was the boring part. The fun part is watching the matte parts come off the printer looking like they were moulded.

A new box, starting as a sticker

The other thing on the bench is packaging. I've been working on a new seal sticker, the band that folds over the edge of the box and closes it. Right now it just makes the unboxing feel finished instead of taped-shut.

But it's the first step toward something larger. The plan is for that same packaging to grow into a proper retail-ready box, so the products can sit on a shelf in a shop, not just ship from here directly. It debuts on the SlideUnder Pro and Elite 14", with the 16" to follow once the format is proven. I'm keeping the rest of the specifics light for now, but if you've wondered whether DBD will ever turn up somewhere you can pick it up in person, this is the groundwork for it.
